Amnesty International Boss Seydi Gassama describes Bougane’s arrest as a minor incident, requires his launch – LamToro Information
The director of Amnesty International in Senegal Seydi Gassama has reacted to the arrest and detention of Senegal’s opposition politician Bougane Gueye Dany who was arrested on Saturday, 19th October 2024 while on his approach to Bakkel in eatsern Senegal.
Bougane and different opposition figures similar to Thierno Boccoum and Anta Babacarr Ngom had launched into a journey to Bakkel to go to and assist flood victims whose homes have been destroyed lately. Their entourage was intercepted by the Gendarmerie Nationale.

Reacting to the incident on X (previously Twitter) the Amnesty International boss stated: “We call for the release of Mr Bougane Gueye Dani, who was taken into police custody following a refusal to comply, according to the national gendarmerie.”
Mr. Gassama stated he’s satisfied that ‘this minor incident, which did not endanger anyone’s life, have to be positioned within the present pre-election context.’
