A bushfire has engulfed the bushes round Chamen in Baddibou, devastating a neighborhood farm and inflicting widespread concern amongst residents.

A video shared by The Fatu Network exhibits thick smoke billowing into the sky, with smouldering grass and crops clearly seen within the aftermath.

Firefighters arrived on the scene with their hearth engine to fight the raging blaze, which had initially overpowered native residents.

Community members had been seen speeding with buckets of water in a determined try and extinguish the flames.

While the reason for the fireplace stays unknown, Mbye Saine, Project Coordinator of the Gambia Songhai Initiative, famous that such incidents are recurring within the space, in response to The Fatu Network.

One of the affected farmers, Jumma Bah, revealed that the fireplace has left his herd of cows in misery, as they refuse to eat as a result of smoke and stress from the approaching flames.
