During his official visit to the Republic of Guinea, where he met with the Gabonese student community residing in Conakry on Monday, Oligui Nguema announced the upcoming opening of an embassy of Gabon in the capital of the Republic of Guinea, and that of Guinea in Libreville. This announcement, made during this meeting with his compatriots, marks a turning point in the bilateral relations between the two countries. It meets a long-standing expectation of Gabonese nationals in Guinea, who have faced the absence of diplomatic representation, a significant obstacle in the management of their administrative procedures.

“Gabon and Guinea are two brotherly countries. It is time for our ties to be reflected in reciprocal diplomatic presence, serving our peoples. This is good news,” comments a Guinean national, a doctor in Gabon.

Beyond the symbolism, this dual opening aims to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and human exchanges between Libreville and Conakry. It is part of a dynamic of strategic rapprochement in West Africa, driven by a common desire for enhanced cooperation.

The meeting with Gabonese students, characterized by listening and frankness, also allowed the President to announce concrete measures in favor of youth: the immediate settlement of outstanding grants and the provision of new assistance in the fields of health and polytechnic training.

By reaffirming the central role of the diaspora in the construction of the ‘New Gabon,’ Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema emphasized that this community is a vibrant force of the Nation, called to play a key role in the country’s development.
