Dr Ceesay says Gambians will make ‘grave mistake’ to vote Essa Faal in energy

Dr Ismaila Ceesay, info minister, has criticised lawyer Essa Faal over his criticism of the Barrow authorities, warning that Gambians could be making a grave mistake by voting Faal in energy.

Lawyer Faal final week ripped into the Barrow authorities, which he accused of corruption, whereas urging Gambians to not reelect Barrow in 2026.

In response to Faal’s criticism, Dr Ceesay fired again, describing him as somebody who doesn’t perceive how governance works.

“I listened to Essa Faal yesterday, and I’m very dissatisfied that somebody who aspires to grow to be the president of the nation would misinform the general public. Most of the statements he made right here had been misinformation. I’ll deal with the 19 million dalasis he claimed the Speaker receives each 5 years, which is fake. The Speaker receives nothing greater than 17 million dalasis, together with taxes

According to Dr Ceesay, a former opposition chief turned pro-government spokesman, Faal was receiving 1.5 million dalasis yearly because the lead counsel of TRRC whereas his driver and safety guard had been every 5,000 dalasis.

“So, why didn’t he complain at that time and say, ‘Let me share my salary with those people?’ We need to understand that the office of the president cannot be belittled; he is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”

“When it involves dishonesty…I imply Essa himself when he was on the TRRC, was receiving taxpayers’ cash whereas campaigning. He had an agenda to grow to be president, and he was utilizing the platform that was given to him by the federal government to do his political marketing campaign.

“That’s why he didn’t even complete the job. Also, he doesn’t understand governance when I hear him speak. He’s a man Gambians will be in grave danger in giving him the keys to the state house. Someone who doesn’t understand how governance works and he doesn’t understand how elections work,” he added.
