Hamat Bah declares battle on unlawful land offers in The Gambia
Hamat Bah, minister of Lands, has issued a stern warning to people concerned in unlawful land dealings, declaring that unauthorised gross sales and exploitation will not be tolerated.
Speaking at a current assembly throughout President Adama Barrow’s nationwide tour, the outspoken minister condemned the persistent problem of land grabbing, which has plagued the nation for years.
He vowed to implement strict measures to place an finish to doubtful land transactions.
“Anyone who comes to sell a piece of land without proper authorisation—President Adama Barrow has made it clear that this will not be allowed,” he declared.
“If someone wants to use your land, they must go through GIEPA to lease it properly.”
He highlighted directives issued by President Barrow two years in the past, emphasising that the sale of huge parcels of land have to be authorised by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Local Government.
He warned that anybody bypassing these official channels to have interaction in unauthorised transactions with neighborhood heads would see their land offers nullified.
“Land is a critical resource, and we cannot allow a few individuals to exploit it at the expense of the country’s development,” he added.
Illegal land dealings have turn into a recurring problem in The Gambia, usually resulting in disputes and destabilizing communities. With stories of unauthorised land gross sales on the rise, many Gambians have known as for stricter enforcement of rules to forestall exploitation.
His assertion comes as a part of the federal government’s broader efforts to revive order within the land administration system.
