Several heaps of harvested maize on a 75-hector farm belonging to the Savannah Regional Minister,  Saeed Muhazu Jibril, has been destroyed by hearth.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday January 1, is believed to have been attributable to a suspected arsonist.

According to the Minister, he acquired a name from some farmers alerting him of the incident. He rapidly moved to the farm and noticed the heaps of harvested maize in flames.

Despite making a ten-meter hearth belt across the heaps of harvested maize, all the pieces on the 75-hector farm was burnt to ashes.

Narrating the incident to 3news.com, the Minister indicated that the incident was deliberate and executed since all of the heaps of harvested maize have been burnt concurrently.

“I am not happy about the incident because all my investments have gone down the drain. I committed a lot of resources into the farm only for someone to come and set fire on the harvest,”

“I had my exit plan while in office to go into farming after my tenure expires, this year is my fifth year into commercial farming and look at what has befallen me. I am devastated but I know that the person who did this doesn’t want development,” he lamented.
