Henry Gomez, the Secretary-General and Party Leader of the Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress (GPDP) has prolonged a heartfelt apology to the chief of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, and his supporters throughout a current New Year interview.

In a reflective and conciliatory tone, Gomez acknowledged previous political tensions and expressed gratitude for Darboe’s affect on his public recognition.

“Baba Ousainou Darboe is my Baba Ousainou. People came to know me more because of him; he is the leading actor in the film of my life. Without a good actor, a film is not complete. He contributed to my fame, as he built me. I want to take this opportunity to wish him and his entire family a Happy New Year. I also humbly ask for forgiveness for anything I may have done to offend him or his supporters. Likewise, I have forgiven him for any grievances he may have caused me but was unable to express,” Gomez said.

The GPDP chief prolonged his message of forgiveness past Darboe to incorporate the whole UDP occasion and others he might have wronged throughout his political profession.

“I forgive everyone. I hold no grudges against anybody. I want to sincerely ask the entire UDP party and Baba Ousainou Darboe to forgive me if I have ever wronged them. As human beings, we are not perfect; only God is without flaws. Mistakes are inevitable, but when we err, we must acknowledge and rectify them. Any wrongs I committed were driven by politics and a desire to serve the Gambia,” Gomez added.
