Ken Thompson applauds John Mahama’s preliminary ministerial appointments – Ghana Information On-line
The former Chief Executive of Dalex Finance, Kenneth Thompson, has praised the President’s decisions for his first ministerial appointments, expressing confidence of their capability to ship outcomes.
His commendation comes after the announcement of the President’s preliminary record of three ministerial appointments on Thursday, 9 January 2025.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, January 10, Mr Thompson highlighted some necessary qualities to search for when appointing ministers to varied ministries.
“Look for somebody with experience, who understands what they are going to do and has done it before, and who can communicate – knows how to speak because you need to speak to people. The economy is about sentiments, you know; it’s very critical that you communicate. Somebody who has a network, a network of people, because you need to make phone calls because you need help,” he defined.
He additionally pressured the significance of power in such roles, expressing his enthusiasm over the appointment of a younger particular person to the Financial sector.
Mr Thompson additional famous that the Energy sector is in a tough scenario and requires the efforts of younger, energetic people in such ministries.
“The Energy sector is one that is in a mess, and no matter how we try to put a hole over the hype, it’s an absolute mess. And he is also young, he talks about it knowledgeably; he’s just experienced. At least, in these key areas, we have young people – and I stress the word young, because you can have all the knowledge in the world, all the experience in the world, but if you don’t have energy, if you don’t have passion, you can’t execute,” he stated.
