President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday honoured the appearing Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, by selling him to the rank of Lieutenant General throughout a ceremony held on the State House, Abuja.

The ornament of the appearing military chief was held on the President’s workplace, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President’s spokesman, stated in an announcement.

Tinubu recommended the army for its unwavering braveness, dedication, and patriotism in sustaining the nation’s safety.

“It is both an honour and a privilege to decorate you today,” the President said.

“This recognition displays your dedication and repair to the Nigerian army, which speaks volumes by your exemplary document.

“We recognise all that you have been doing to ensure the country is safe and stable,” the President stated.

He assured the army that the federal government would all the time hearken to their recommendation and hold the nation on the trail of peace and prosperity.
“We are facing challenges, but progress is being made,” he added.

The President attributed the success recorded in tackling terrorism and banditry to the “synergy’’ within the armed forces and urged the service chiefs to maintain concord of their relationship for the betterment of the nation.

“The synergy among you has calmed the country, and we need that stability to continue. We need to assure all citizens that prosperity is not far from them,” President Tinubu said.

Oluyede expressed gratitude and acknowledged the solemnity of the event.

He reiterated his dedication to upholding the imaginative and prescient of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and to sustaining peace throughout the nation.

Oluyede was granted Regular Combatant Commission as second lieutenant, member of the 39 Regular Course, on Sept. 19, 1992, with seniority in the identical rank efficient Sept. 12, 1987.
