UTG employees, college students to stage strike over dismissal of lecturers Monday

Staff and college students of the University of The Gambia (UTG) have introduced plans to stage a strike beginning Monday in protest of the dismissal of two lecturers.

Last month, the college authorities terminated the contracts of Dr. Alieu Gibba and Prof. Matarr Njie, accusing them of “peddling unfounded claims” towards the establishment.

In response, UTG employees and college students have issued a press release calling for the quick reinstatement of the dismissed lecturers.

The assertion reads: “We cordially invite you to cover the peaceful protest of the UTG students and staff against the decision taken by the UTG management over the dismissal of Dr. Gibba and Prof. Njie.”
