New Minister Says Trade Coverage Should Empower Nigerian Companies

The newly appointed Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, has pledged to prioritise the empowerment of Nigerian companies by efficient commerce insurance policies.
Oduwole made the pledge upon her assumption of workplace on Monday in Abuja.
She outlined her imaginative and prescient for the ministry, aimed toward enhancing the competitiveness of native enterprises and fostering financial development.
According to Oduwole, commerce insurance policies have to be tailor-made to satisfy the wants of Nigerian companies.
“Trade coverage should work for Nigerian companies.
“We should be sure that our commerce agreements, significantly the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), are optimised for the advantage of native enterprises.
“We must focus on investment retention, therefore we need to create a more conducive environment for businesses currently operating in Nigeria,” she stated.
The minister expressed confidence within the collaborative efforts of the ministry and its businesses, underscoring the significance of standard conferences to set measurable targets.
She highlighted the necessity for accountability and transparency within the implementation of commerce initiatives.
“What will get measured will get finished. When we give attention to what’s measured and we work in a systemic method, then we won’t be underneath stress. We set targets, we set timelines, and we monitor them.

“We as a team can promise Nigerians today that they will definitely see tangible results from us in the near future. With that, I look forward to working with you,” she stated.
Oduwole acknowledged the prevailing challenges confronted by Nigerian companies, together with power constraints and market entry points.
She reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to addressing these bottlenecks, significantly by partnerships with different ministries.
