Togo’s export revenue hit CFAF 295.7 billion in Q2 2026, up 29.5% year-on-year, per national statistics institute INSEED.
Imports grew at a slower pace, rising 18.5% to CFAF 562.1 billion, which left the country with a trade deficit of CFAF 266.4 billion, up 8.4% year on year.
Phosphates remained the country’s top export earner, generating CFAF 46.7 billion and representing 15.8% of total export value for the quarter. Clinker followed with CFAF 22.3 billion, and refined petroleum products came in third at CFAF 21.7 billion.
The top 10 export products together accounted for 60.9% of all export revenue, reflecting a mix that includes raw materials, agricultural goods, and processed or re-exported items.

The quarterly figure continues an upward trend. In the fourth quarter of 2025, exports stood at CFAF 253.5 billion, with sales already heavily concentrated in a limited number of markets.
India was the dominant destination for Togolese exports in the second quarter, absorbing 40.6% of the total. Burkina Faso followed at 17.7%, and Ghana at 7.8%.
The top 10 export markets combined accounted for 87.8% of all shipments, underscoring the country’s reliance on a small set of trading partners.
Togo continued to record trade surpluses with its regional partners, posting a CFAF 15.8 billion surplus with ECOWAS countries and a CFAF 73.5 billion surplus with WAEMU nations.
