ECOMIG, Gambian Security Forces Launch Week-Long Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Banjul
ECOMIG and the Gambian Defence and Security Forces launched a week-long breast cancer awareness campaign at the Gambia School of Nursing and Midwifery in Banjul, opening with a route march and a ceremony featuring a keynote address and self-examination demonstrations. Activities are scheduled to continue through 22 October with screenings in Yundum, Barra and Kanfenda.

ECOWAS Mission in Guinea-Bissau Takes Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign to Bissau School
The Office of the ECOWAS Resident Representative and the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau held a breast cancer awareness campaign at Kwame Nkrumah Secondary School in Bissau on 22 October 2026. Ambassador Ngozi Ukaeje and Force Commander Brigadier General Danjuma Ribah Dantani stressed early detection, while Major Sylvester Alhassan delivered a sensitisation lecture on signs, risk factors and treatment.

Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana Agree Pilot Product List for Mutual Recognition of Inspection Certificates
Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana have selected an initial list of priority products for a pilot phase of their Mutual Recognition Agreement on inspection certificates and approved an implementation action plan. The agreement was approved by ECOWAS trade ministers in May 2025, and the pilot is described as a step towards mutual recognition along the Abidjan–Lagos corridor.

ECOWAS Culture Experts Validate 624-Event Regional Calendar in Lomé
Cultural experts from ECOWAS member states met in Lomé from 21 to 23 October 2026 and validated a regional cultural calendar covering 624 events. The technical sessions also addressed a harmonised cultural database and reviewed funding criteria for major festivals and cultural projects, with participants recommending annual calendar updates and a biennial regional cultural magazine.
