Ademola Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, is on track to be declared the winner, according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The final tallies from all 30 local government areas were read out at the INEC headquarters in Osogbo early Sunday morning.
While an official declaration from the returning officer is still pending, a review of the announced results indicates that Adeleke holds a commanding lead over his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The preliminary count shows Adeleke securing 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,811, a difference of 66,256 votes.
