The Director General of The Gambia Immigration Department, Ebrima Mboob, has been recognised as the Most Outstanding Immigration Chief in West and Central Africa for 2026.
The award was presented on 23rd July 2026 in Banjul during the 8th Security Watch Africa Conference and Awards, an event hosted by The Gambia’s Ministry of Interior.
The honour was conferred by Security Watch Africa International (SWAI), a Pan-African security media and advocacy organisation established in 1997.
SWAI promotes dialogue on security challenges in Africa and recognises excellence among governments, security agencies, non-governmental institutions, businesses and individuals contributing to security, safety and good governance.
The accolade celebrates DG Mboob’s leadership, integrity, ethical conduct, impact, innovation and contribution to regional security cooperation in migration and border governance.
The Gambia Immigration Department welcomed the recognition, describing it as a testament to decades of professional growth, impact and continuous reform that drive the department’s reform agenda, champion sustainable migration and border governance models, and support the implementation of national, regional and international migration governance frameworks.
The department’s Core Command, Senior Management and staff congratulated DG Mboob on the recognition and dedicated the honour to every officer who continues to serve with integrity, patriotism and professionalism.
The department said the achievement reflects its collective commitment to excellence in service delivery and its dedication to protecting The Gambia’s borders.
