South Africa’s IR Committee Chairperson Extends Congratulations on Azerbaijan’s Fifth Victory Day
The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation, Mr. Supra Mahumapelo, has congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the fifth anniversary of their Victory Day, celebrated on November 8, 2025.
Mr. Mahumapelo expressed his wishes for the nation’s continued success, particularly in its economic development. He also voiced his hope that the anniversary would serve as a catalyst to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between South Africa and Azerbaijan, taking it to new heights.
“We join you in your anniversary of the Victory Day, assuring you of our support on all fronts,” Mr. Mahumapelo added.
The two countries have established strong diplomatic and economic relations, cooperating on multilateral issues while exploring opportunities in trade and education. Both nations, united by a commitment to multilateralism and membership in the Non-Aligned Movement, have signed agreements to deepen their bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Victory Day is a national holiday in Azerbaijan, commemorating the country’s liberation of the city of Shusha.
