Teachers Voice Support for Presidential Candidate Romuald Wadagni

Godomey, November 8, 2025 – Educators from across Benin’s twelve departments convened in Godomey for a citizen reflection meeting titled “Teacher, Sower of the Future.” The gathering, organized by the political movement “Jogb,” concluded with a public declaration of support for Minister of State Romuald Wadagni, a candidate in the 2026 presidential election.

The teachers’ endorsement aligns with the principles of “faith, ethics, and responsibility” they say the candidate brings to the nation’s public discourse.

A Moral Burden and a National Role

Mathieu Weke, president of the organizing committee, opened the meeting by highlighting the moral burden carried by educators. “Today, more than ever, our country needs these sowers,” he stated, praising the men and women who shape civic consciousness and the Republic’s future, often from the shadows. He described the Beninese school not merely as a place of instruction but as a “sanctuary of human transformation.”

Following the discussions, Ibrahim Chabi Moussa read a joint declaration on behalf of the educators. The document underscored the central role of teachers in democratic construction, defining them as an “essential moral and intellectual force.” They expressed that their role is recognized in the commitments highlighted by Romuald Wadagni.

A Vision for an Enlightened Benin

The declaration outlined the teachers’ core convictions: their faith in an enlightened and united Benin; a daily commitment to promoting ethics and civic discipline; and a willingness to support an educational vision aimed at the integral transformation of the Beninese person.

Their recommendations included the creation of a national network for teachers within the movement, establishing a permanent framework for dialogue on civic pedagogy, and enhancing active civic education for learners and their families.

“We want to be not only transmitters of knowledge but also builders of the future,” specified one delegation head. The educators declared their intention to support a peaceful and responsible electoral process in 2026.
