The Brava District Court has issued a ruling for the pre-trial detention of a 37-year-old man who is suspected of engaging in high-risk drug trafficking.
The decision to detain the individual came after a recent operation conducted by the National Police, which was prompted by multiple complaints implicating the suspect.
During the operation, a search was carried out at the suspect’s residence in the village of Tomé Barraz, although no illicit substances were found at the location. However, a quantity of illegal drugs, later identified as cocaine, was uncovered at his bar.
The case is currently under investigation, and the suspect will remain in pre-trial detention until the legal process is concluded. The individual is currently being held at the Brava police station and will eventually be transferred to the civil prison on the island of Fogo.
