The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) has initiated an institutional twinning program with the German Ministry of Economy and Energy at the Exhibition Palace (SAFEX) on Tuesday.
Algeria is advancing its economic modernization strategy with a significant move. The AAPI officially launched a twinning program with the Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany, aiming to enhance the country’s economic competitiveness.
The launch event took place at the Exhibition Palace (SAFEX) and was attended by key figures including Omar Rekkache, General Director of AAPI, Diego Mellado, the EU Ambassador in Algeria, Mohamed Soumani, Director of Cooperation with the EU at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anne-Sophie Lieg, Deputy Head of the German diplomatic mission, and Abderrahmane Saâdi, National Director of the Public Institutions Support Program.
An EU-supported Initiative for Economic Growth
This eight-month program, funded by the European Union, is part of the strategic partnership between Algeria and the EU. It aims to boost Algeria’s economic competitiveness and attractiveness for both domestic and foreign investments.
The program aligns with the vision of Algerian authorities to diversify the economy and promote productive investments, essential for sustainable growth.
Collaboration to Strengthen AAPI’s Capacities
Themed ‘Strengthening the capacities of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency,’ this cooperation focuses on an institutional exchange of expertise between Algeria and Germany. The goal is to enhance governance, modernize management tools, and develop new approaches for investment promotion.
The program will enable AAPI to enhance its technical skills through workshops, training, and field missions conducted with German experts. The collaboration will concentrate on digitalization, modern communication tools, proactive market analysis, innovation, technology transfer, and providing quality service to investors.

AAPI is undergoing a structural transformation to become a key player in national investment policy. The twinning program is a crucial step in this evolution, aiming to make the agency more efficient, transparent, and effective in its operations.
