Artisanal miners’ association AODG gave 100 tonnes cement, 100 uniforms, 1,000 bags of 25 kg rice to Faso Mêbo regional coordination.
The handover took place on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ziniaré, under the chairmanship of the Governor of the Oubritenga region.
The donation marks the first anniversary of the association, which had previously offered 400 tonnes of cement to the Faso Mêbo agency in Ouagadougou on August 31, 2025.
According to the association, the gesture is part of supporting citizen initiatives and the national effort, with the aim of helping with infrastructure, defense forces at the front, and vulnerable populations.
Adama Ouédraogo, president of the AODG, detailed the intended use of the donated items.
He stated that the cement will support infrastructure-related actions, the military uniforms are a contribution to supporting those who hold the line in defense of the homeland, and the 25 tonnes of rice represent a gesture of solidarity toward the beneficiaries.
Governor Sy Assétou Barry/Traoré praised the gesture from the artisanal miners, describing it as citizenship in action. She emphasized the importance of national unity, stating that such actions are only possible when people are united.
Ouédraogo also took stock of the association’s first year of operation, reporting that it mobilized 330 million CFA francs.
He detailed support provided to vulnerable women, widows and orphans of the defense and security forces, as well as a contribution to the rehabilitation of the delivery room at the Zorgho health center.
He also recalled the donation of 12 motorcycles to the municipal police as part of strengthening civil-military ties.
Raphaël Yonli, representative of the patron, mandated by the chargé de mission of the Presidency of Faso, Captain Zakaria Tissologo, praised the commitment of the mining actors.
He encouraged them to continue contributing to national development, noting that the country is theirs to build.
