American rapper Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, better known as Nicki Minaj, continues her advocacy against religious persecution by calling for the freedom of Christians in Nigeria. This initiative is part of her ongoing social media campaign to address religious violence, particularly in light of the American Government’s declaration of Christian Genocide in Nigeria and its designation of the country as a place of particular concern in November.
During her address to United Nations delegates on November 19, the 42-year-old singer-rapper highlighted the alleged targeting, displacement, and killings of Nigerian Christians. She emphasized that safeguarding Nigerian Christians is not about taking sides but about uniting humanity, especially in the face of escalating insecurity marked by attacks on religious sites by bandits.
In a recent post, Nicki Minaj reiterated her call for the freedom of Christians in Nigeria, stating, ‘On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other grounds are sinking sand. Free the Christians in Nigeria. Stop this now! #FreeChristians.’
Additionally, in another post, she made a plea to end bloodshed globally, urging, ‘Shed not their blood anymore. All Nations hear this. Shed not their blood, you have shed the blood of those that called you my name. #FreeChristians.’
Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern due to allegations of Christian genocide, and his threat of military action if the situation persists, Nicki Minaj and other prominent figures like Senator Ted Cruz have continued to advocate for the cessation of religious persecution against Christians in Nigeria.
Despite the Nigerian Government’s denial of the allegations, the calls for action to protect Christians in the country persist, with voices like Nicki Minaj’s amplifying the urgency for intervention to safeguard religious freedom.
