Recently in Oyo, the hometown of President Denis Sassou-N’Guesso, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Congo, An Qing, commended the energy and vitality present in the area and nationwide. She highlighted the continuous efforts of the Chinese people in Congo to drive modernization.
“We must capitalize on the current trend to create new development opportunities in the next five years. China now leads in goods trade volume and service trade globally, with a 5.5% average growth rate and a 30% contribution to the global economy. It has established comprehensive education, social security, and public health systems,” stated the diplomat.
President Denis Sassou-N’Guesso acknowledged China’s remarkable development achievements, noting its transformation from extreme poverty to a leading developing nation. China’s approach of openness, inclusivity, and mutually beneficial cooperation has set a positive example.
“No one can isolate themselves under the same sky, and mere connections are not enough to unite the global community,” quoted An Qing, referencing a Chinese proverb.
China’s progress serves as inspiration for Congo and other developing nations to pursue modernization tailored to their specific contexts.
The Chinese diplomat emphasized the importance of modernization to enhance living standards, promote universal education, generate quality employment opportunities, ensure fair income distribution, equal access to public services, and sustain social security systems. This approach aims to enhance household well-being, fulfill people’s aspirations for a better life, and extend the benefits of modernization to all.
She stressed the need to expand common interests to create extensive opportunities for collective development, highlighting development as a perpetual focus of human societies.
“Amidst current global complexities marked by unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemonic behaviors, China remains steadfast in advocating for fairness, justice, and impartiality,” she added.
As co-chairs of FOCAC, China and Congo, guided by their respective leaders, are collaborating closely to navigate present challenges and forge new paths based on past achievements. Together, they aim to establish a high-level community of shared prosperity, reinforce the foundation of mutually beneficial cooperation, and contribute significantly to global development and advancement.
