CNSS Launches eCNSS Mobile App to Revolutionize Social Security Access in Burkina Faso

In a significant stride towards digital transformation, Burkina Faso’s National Social Security Fund (CNSS) has officially launched the eCNSS mobile application. This new tool, introduced on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, represents a mobile-optimized version of the existing eCNSS platform and is designed to bring essential social security services directly into the hands of employers and insured citizens.

A Digital Gateway for Employers and Workers

The application, now available for download on the Play Store, requires a straightforward identification and registration process. Once installed, it unlocks a comprehensive suite of services tailored to different user groups.

For employers, the eCNSS mobile app is a powerful management tool. It enables them to monitor employee careers, pay contributions through multiple channels including bank transfer, mobile money, and Visa card, request payment schedules, obtain contribution status certificates, and access worker attendance reports.

For insured members, the innovation offers unprecedented transparency and control. Users can now check their individual accounts in real-time, track the status of benefit files and payments, submit necessary documents to maintain eligibility, request benefit advances, simulate future pension calculations, and review their complete payment history.

Enhanced Operational Capacity for CNSS

The benefits extend to the CNSS itself. The institution now has the enhanced capability to verify all employer statuses comprehensively and map the situations of all workers. A notable feature includes the ability to obtain GPS locations of employers, which streamlines the process for inspection and compliance purposes.

A Promise of Efficiency and Transparency

According to CNSS Director General, Hermann Yacouba Nacambo, these digital innovations are a game-changer. They are expected to resolve long-standing issues with updating individual accounts, drastically improve benefit processing times—with some pensions now being processed in a single day—and eliminate the notorious waiting lines at physical service counters.

“We are not simply launching an application; we are unveiling a mobile extension of our promise to provide smooth, secure, and user-friendly access to the information and services provided to our social partners,” Nacambo stated during the launch ceremony.

This initiative is a key operational objective of a Strategic Plan adopted by the Fund in 2023. The Director General explained that this digital drive aims to strengthen trust with partners and contribute to the broader goal of expanding social security coverage across the nation.

Government Backing and Future Roadmap

Presiding over the launch, Minister of Public Service, Mathias Traoré, encouraged widespread adoption of the application. He also issued a specific challenge to the CNSS: to market the app to diaspora workers who often wish to enroll in voluntary insurance but are hindered by geographical barriers.

Minister Traoré framed the launch as part of a larger dynamic to modernize public administration and digitize procedures for greater citizen convenience.

What’s Next for CNSS Innovation?

The eCNSS mobile app is just the beginning. Director General Nacambo revealed that the institution is already advancing other ambitious projects. The innovation pipeline includes:

An electronic data archiving system for better record management.
Modernized affiliation cards for road transport drivers.
AI-powered chatbot agents for the eCNSS platform, website, and Facebook pages to provide instant user support.
Integration of biometric systems into retiree management for enhanced security and efficiency.

With the eCNSS mobile application, the CNSS is not just keeping pace with the digital age but is actively shaping a more accessible, efficient, and transparent future for social security in Burkina Faso.
