Hong Kong’s Central District Transforms into a Winter Wonderland with Immersive Light Show

HONG KONG, Nov. 07, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Hong Kong is set to enchant residents and visitors by transforming its vibrant Central district into a magical winter wonderland. The city’s premier seasonal event, the Hong Kong WinterFest, will run from 14 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, reinforcing its status as Asia’s top Christmas destination.

Winter Wonderland in Central

The heart of the festivities will be a breathtaking lineup in Central. For the first time, eight iconic buildings will become the canvas for a spectacular Immersive Light Show. This visual centerpiece will be complemented by a 20-metre-high outdoor Christmas tree and a festive Christmas Town, creating a dazzling symphony of light that will illuminate the night sky.

“This year’s Hong Kong WinterFest features our most extensive lineup to date,” said HKTB Chairman Dr. Peter Lam. “Our collaboration with Hongkong Land will turn Central into a brand new festive hotspot, enhancing the holiday experience and stimulating the seasonal economy. We are grateful for the widespread support from our industry partners.”

Christmas Town and Starlight Boulevard

From 14 November, Statue Square Garden will be converted into a joyous Christmas Town, inviting visitors of all ages into a fairy-tale setting. The area will be adorned with colorful, toy-themed decorations. The glittering centerpiece will be a 20-metre-tall Christmas tree, wrapped in shimmering ribbons.

Extending the festive cheer, Chater Road will become a Starlight Boulevard. Over 30 trees will be adorned with lights, and pedestrian footbridges will glow, creating an unmissable outdoor Christmas experience every evening from 5pm.

Dreamlike Immersive Lights Show

A major highlight debuting on 28 November is the Immersive Lights Show. Eight iconic buildings* surrounding Christmas Town will serve as a vast canvas for a stunning multimedia extravaganza. Using 3D projection mapping and holiday melodies, reindeer, angels, and snowmen will appear to leap playfully between the buildings, creating a captivating sensory experience that reflects Hong Kong’s dynamic energy.

*The eight buildings are: the Bank of China Building, the Bank of China Tower, the Court of Final Appeal Building, Hong Kong City Hall High Block, the Hong Kong Club Building, the HSBC Main Building, Princes Building, and the Standard Chartered Bank Building.
