The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Adamawa State Command, has recorded another major arrest in its efforts to curb drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Operatives of the command, under the leadership of the State Commander, CN Aliyu Abubakar, arrested a 40-year-old man, Joseph Ayah, with 300 blocks of cannabis concealed in a Honda Civic vehicle.

According to the Command, the drugs were transported from Edo State with the intention of delivering them in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The suspect, in a confessional statement, “I carried Indian hemp from Edo State to Numan, but I was arrested when I got to Numan while I was waiting for Mr Sani, whom I usually supply the Indian hemp”.

The NDLEA also arrested one Abdulmalik Yusuf, who was Joseph’s travel companion.

Abdulmalik, however, denied any knowledge of the illicit substance hidden in the vehicle.

He said, “Mr Joseph met me in Kogi State to escort him to Bauchi, but I didn’t know what he was carrying in the car. I stepped down to buy something, then NDLEA arrested me.”

The Adamawa NDLEA Command said investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged accordingly.
