Nigeria Launches Talent Accelerator Network to Bridge Skills Gap and Fuel Economic Growth
Nigeria has officially launched the Nigeria Talent Accelerator Network, a transformative initiative designed to strengthen the nation’s workforce capabilities while addressing critical productivity gaps. This strategic move aims to accelerate digital transformation and prepare Nigerian workers for the rapidly evolving future of employment.
A Collaborative Framework for Workforce Development
The initiative forms part of the World Economic Forum’s Reskilling Revolution in Nigeria, co-chaired by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment alongside the Federal Ministry of Education. Coordinated by the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), this launch marks Nigeria’s formal entry into the Global Accelerators Network. The platform seeks to mobilize multi-stakeholder partnerships that will collectively reshape global talent development, empowering local talent to meet emerging economic demands.
Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, characterized the launch as “a decisive step towards building a globally competitive workforce that can power Nigeria’s next phase of industrialisation and innovation.”
“The Nigeria Talent Accelerator Network represents a turning point in connecting policy, industry, and education,” Oduwole emphasized. “It creates a unified platform for driving employability, productivity, and inclusive economic growth.”
Aligning Education with Market Realities
Speaking during the launch ceremony, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to aligning educational and vocational training with actual labor market requirements. This alignment ensures Nigerian youth acquire future-ready skills that maintain global competitiveness.
The Accelerator will function as a collaborative platform bridging government agencies, private sector leaders, academic institutions, and civil society organizations. These stakeholders will jointly develop scalable solutions to reskill and upskill Nigeria’s workforce while synchronizing national education and employment policies with modern economic demands.
Strategic Implementation and Global Recognition
“Through this collaboration, Nigeria is not only preparing for the future of work but also helping to define it,” explained Teju Abisoye, National Coordinator of NATEP. “We are developing a coordinated Action Plan to address the talent gaps and leverage the huge opportunities for talent export.”
The initiative will prioritize developing digital and transferable skills to support emerging sectors including technology, business process outsourcing, and green industries. It will also concentrate on mobilizing public-private partnerships to fund and scale reskilling programs, enabling workforce redeployment into high-demand roles while building data-driven systems to anticipate future skills requirements.

The Accelerator complements ongoing national reforms aimed at diversifying the economy, deepening innovation capacity, and driving broad-based prosperity across multiple sectors.
The Reskilling Revolution, a World Economic Forum initiative, aims to provide better education, skills, and economic opportunities to one billion people by 2030. It brings together global businesses, governments, and learning institutions to drive national transformation through programs including Skills and Education Accelerators and the Reskilling Revolution Champions and Commitments.
