President Tinubu Hails Soludo’s Historic Re-election as Endorsement of Visionary Leadership
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended congratulations to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo following his decisive re-election victory, describing the outcome as a strong public endorsement of the governor’s first-term performance.
In an official statement released Sunday, Tinubu celebrated the margin of victory, which secures Soludo’s place in the state’s political annals. “I congratulate Professor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as the governor of Anambra State. The overwhelming victory he recorded in Saturday’s poll has now made him the third governor in the state’s political history to win a second term,” the President stated.
A Testament to Performance and Principles
The President praised Governor Soludo—affectionately called “Mr. Solution”—for bringing intellectual rigor, fiscal discipline, and transparent governance to Anambra State. Tinubu characterized the re-election as “a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance.”
Tinubu specifically highlighted Soludo’s effective application of academic and economic expertise to public service, a hallmark of the former Central Bank Governor’s career. “Governor Soludo has demonstrated that knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people. Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation,” Tinubu affirmed.
Recalling Tangible Progress
Reflecting on his May visit to Anambra, where he commissioned several major infrastructure projects initiated by the Soludo administration, the President described the experience as “remarkable and indelible,” noting that the initiatives reflected “good thinking and purposeful leadership.”
The President also commended all electoral stakeholders, including Anambra citizens, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for ensuring a peaceful and successful election.
Strengthening Democratic Values
Acknowledging that Soludo secured his victory on the platform of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance (AGPA), Tinubu asserted that the outcome reinforces Nigeria’s democratic resilience and the principle that “victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied.”
He further praised the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team, urging the commission to maintain and build upon the standards demonstrated during the poll to further strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system.
Call for Unity and Continued Collaboration
Concluding his message, President Tinubu urged Governor Soludo to be magnanimous in victory by reaching out to his political opponents and fostering collaborative governance. He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the state administration.
“I assure Governor Soludo of my unwavering support, and I look forward to continued collaboration between Anambra and the Federal Government,” he concluded.
