President Urges Justice System to Prioritize Citizen Service
The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, has declared that the justice system must serve the citizen, safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms while ensuring swift and timely processes without compromising the quality of judicial decisions.
President Chapo was speaking in Maputo during a reception for Justice Administration bodies, who visited the Presidency to mark Legality Day, observed tomorrow, November 5th.
Reflection on Justice and Legality
The Head of State noted that the 44th anniversary of Legality Day, themed “50 Years Consolidating a Justice System Serving the Citizen Towards Greater Trust and Social Cohesion,” coincides with the National Independence jubilee. He invited justice officials to reflect on their role in upholding legality and taking appropriate measures against unlawful acts, including criminality.
The President emphasized that the anniversary comes as the country still feels the effects of public security challenges from violent, illegal demonstrations. These events led to the destruction of various infrastructures, including courts, prosecutor’s offices, penitentiaries, schools, hospitals, and police stations, among other public and private assets.
