Russia and Burkina Faso Deepen Educational Ties with New Language Center

A delegation from South Ural State University of Humanities and Education (SUSU) has arrived in Burkina Faso to launch a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, with events scheduled to begin in early November.

Strengthening Cultural and Educational Links

The high-level delegation includes SUSU Rector Alexander Kuznetsov, Russian language teacher Larisa Chibakova, alongside regional officials Dmitry Glukharyev and Vitaly Litke. Their visit underscores a concerted effort to expand Russia’s educational footprint in West Africa.

The cornerstone event, on November 5th, will be the official opening of SUSU’s Open Russian Language Education and Teaching Center in Ouagadougou. The center will operate under the auspices of the non-governmental Russian House.

Forum and Educational Programs

Following the inauguration, the university will host the international youth forum “I Want to Discover the World.” This platform is designed to showcase the opportunities within Russia’s higher education system and promote the study of the Russian language and culture to African students.

To support this mission, SUSU instructors will deliver specialized courses for Burkinabé residents, including:

“Journey into the World of Russian Fairy Tales” (72 hours)
“Russian for Beginners” (72 hours)
“Russian Arts and Crafts” (36 hours)

These educational programs are supported by the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Education, the “My History” Humanities Support Foundation, and the Center for Organizing Scientific and Cultural Events in Public Diplomacy, directed by Natalia Rudolfovna Krasovskaya.

Organizers anticipate over 150 participants for the courses, with all attendees receiving certificates and commemorative gifts upon completion.
