Tinubu Hails Soludo’s Landslide Re-election, Citing Visionary Leadership

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Professor Chukwuma Soludo following his decisive re-election as Governor of Anambra State.

Soludo secured a second term in a landslide victory, sweeping all 21 local government areas in the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the official results on Sunday, cementing Soludo’s position as only the third governor in Anambra’s history to win re-election.

A Testament to Visionary Governance

In a statement he personally signed, President Tinubu characterized the victory as a clear endorsement of Soludo’s visionary leadership and the tangible progress achieved during his first term.

“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that knowledge is indeed power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people,” the President stated. He emphasized that this approach underpins “accountability, transparency, and prudent management of people and resources.”

Recalling a visit to Anambra in May, Tinubu noted he had inaugurated several projects executed by the administration. He described the experience as “remarkable” and “indelible,” praising the strategic thinking behind the governor’s landmark initiatives.

Call for Unity and Continued Collaboration

The President commended Soludo for bringing “discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance,” adding that under his watch, Anambra is truly living up to its motto as the ‘Light of the Nation.’

He urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory and to seek cooperation from his political opponents. Tinubu also assured Soludo of his unwavering support and looked forward to continued collaboration between the state and the Federal Government.

“The victory of the opposition All Progressives Grand Alliance in this election again demonstrates the vitality of our political system,” the President remarked. “It shows that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied.”

INEC’s Credible Election Conduct

President Tinubu also lauded the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what he described as a credible election, based on initial reports. He charged the commission to maintain these high standards and continue improving its performance to further strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system.

The State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Omoregie Edoba, declared Soludo the winner after the collation of results. “I hereby declare that Soludo Chukwuma Charles of the APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Edoba announced at the INEC state headquarters in Awka.

Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a commanding 422,664 votes. His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 99,445 votes. Other candidates, including Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP), trailed significantly.
