Agadez marked the night of Maouloud 1448 with prayers for peace, security and national sovereignty, as regional authorities joined Muslim faithful in mosques across the city.
Governor of the Agadez region, Major General Ibra Boulama Issa, visited several mosques during the night of 25 to 26 August 2026, with stops at the Malam Souley Mosque, known as Dan Larabawa, and the Emiskini Mosque of the Sultanate of Aïr.
He was accompanied by civil, military and customary figures, including members of the religious observatory.
At each mosque, worshippers observed the blessed night through sessions of Quranic recitation, invocations and reminders devoted to the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The teachings focused on devotion, piety, solidarity, fraternity and the values that should guide the life of the Muslim community.
The delegation also went to the Great Mosque of Agadez, where the Quranic reading session was used to offer prayers for peace, security and a fruitful rainy season.
At the end of the session, the Governor called on the faithful to continue imploring Allah (SWT) to bless Niger, its people and its leaders, while accompanying the country in the fight undertaken to safeguard its sovereignty.
He insisted on the need for Nigeriens to remain mobilised around this national objective.
Major General Ibra Boulama Issa also expressed a special thought for the Defence and Security Forces, who “day and night are on the ground to defend the integrity of our territory.”
He offered prayers that God protect them and grant them strength and success in their mission of securing the country.
Beyond Niger, the Governor extended wishes for peace and prosperity to the member countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), to the whole of Africa and, more broadly, to all humanity.
In several departments, departmental and municipal administrative authorities also moved to mosques to celebrate the moment with the Muslim faithful.
