Guinea’s Constitutional Court Membership Increases to 11 Members
The National Transitional Council (CNT) of Guinea made a significant decision on Friday, November 21, 2025, by expanding the Constitutional Court’s membership from 9 to 11 members. This move came following the adoption of an organic law proposal that outlines the attributions, composition, organization, and functioning of the Constitutional Court.
The newly approved law, comprising 5 titles and 10 chapters, defines the missions, competencies, structure, and operational procedures of the Constitutional Court. This expansion is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the institution in upholding the rule of law and ensuring constitutional compliance.
With the addition of two new members, the Constitutional Court is poised to handle a broader range of legal matters and provide more comprehensive oversight in safeguarding the country’s constitutional principles. The decision reflects Guinea’s commitment to strengthening its judicial system and promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
As Guinea enters this new phase with an expanded Constitutional Court, stakeholders anticipate a more robust legal framework that upholds justice and protects the rights of all citizens. The increased membership is seen as a positive step towards reinforcing the rule of law and consolidating democratic governance in the country.
