Part of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s statue erected on the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region has been broken by some unknown people. 

When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the location, it noticed that the calf space of the left leg of the President’s statue had been broken, inflicting some combined reactions amongst some residents who spoke to the GNA. 

Ms Doris Arhin, a resident, mentioned it was unpatriotic for some folks to vandalise the statue of the President, and known as on the authorities to research and produce the culprits to ebook. 

She mentioned: “This is very wrong because some of these things are meant to honour and remember great individuals who have served the nation, so I do not see why some people will damage the statue of our President. Our authorities must take action and make the perpetrators face the law.” 

Mr Daniel Cudjoe, a driver, believed that the statue was misplaced precedence, and that eradicating it was a step in the proper path. 

“This government did not do anything for us here in the Western Region, so why should we have this statue here?” he quizzed. 

President Akufo-Addo’s statue was just lately unveiled throughout his, “Thank you tour” of the Western Region by some chiefs to honour him for the numerous improvement initiatives undertaken by his authorities within the area. 

While the statue obtained plaudits from some residents, others criticised the erection of the monument and threatened to drag it down.
