TEWU-TUC-Ghana suspends industrial motion, resumes work on November 25

The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of Trade Union Congress (TUC) Ghana has suspended its industrial motion, declared on November 18, 2024.

The Union urged its members to renew full work by Monday, November 25, 2024.

King James Azortibah, the General Secretary of the Union, introduced this in an announcement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

“We guarantee our cherished members that the management of TEWU of TUC-Ghana is bent on guaranteeing that there will likely be finality to the difficulty of the situations of service of the affected establishments for rapid implementation.

“Our members are being shortchanged with the continuous delay in concluding and implementing the Conditions of Service, and this cannot be allowed to continue,” the assertion stated.

TEWU of TUC-Ghana on Monday, November 18, 2024, launched into an indefinite industrial motion, over greater than 4 years delay in concluding and implementing the Conditions of Service for its member establishments.

The establishments are the Ghana Education Service, the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, the Ghana Library Authority, and the Public and Technical Universities.

The National Labour Commission on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, issued a directive that the strike ought to be referred to as off whereas the Union and its varied managements involved report again on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, for the Commission to listen to the substantive case.
