Mali’s armed forces reported destroying multiple terrorist positions in Aguelhoc, Kignan, and Niono sectors over the weekend, per the General Staff.

The operations, carried out under the banner of Operation Dougoukoloko, began on Sunday, August 30, 2026. In the Aguelhoc region, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa), with support from partners, engaged several terrorist bases west of the city.

The military said these positions contained a significant quantity of war materiel.

On the same day, a separate intervention targeted a gathering west of Kignan. The statement said this followed an analysis of a threat reported near the local police station.

The offensive continued on Monday, August 31, 2026, in the Niono sector. Surveillance identified terrorist gatherings northwest of the city, and Malian forces struck positions where movements of heavy weapons had been observed.
