Guinea’s Central Anti-Drug Office (OCAD) presented a seizure of 725 grams of cocaine on Monday, August 31, at its headquarters in Coléah.
The drugs were discovered concealed inside small packets of “Achoura” tea, a consignment that was destined for France.
According to Divisional Commissioner Abdoulaye Sangaré, Central Director of OCAD, the operation was made possible through collaboration with parcel transport agencies commonly known as “GP”.
Investigators from the research brigade identified and arrested Oumar Kaba, the individual who deposited the parcel, and then Oumar Diallo, who was presented as the person who had given the package to Kaba.
Both suspects admitted to their roles in the affair, while claiming that neither had been informed of the exact contents of the parcel.
Oumar Diallo stated that he had wanted to test a new concealment method, which he said had been taught to him by his “boss”, the intended recipient of the package.
The attempt was foiled by the Central Anti-Drug Office, marking the latest interception in the country’s efforts to curb drug trafficking.
