AI, Blockchain in African Farming: Researchers Say Four Gaps Must Close

A review of studies published between 2005 and 2025 finds that AI and blockchain tools are spreading through African agriculture but are often designed around what the technology can do rather than the farmers using it. The researchers identify four gaps: data quality, actionable advice, farm data ownership and a clear economic reason for adoption.
