How to report an error
If something we have published is inaccurate, tell us. Email info@westafricanewsagency.com or
Contact Us on WhatsApp
with Correction in the subject line, and include:
- The headline and the link to the article
- The specific statement you believe is wrong
- What you believe the correct information is, and any source that supports it
We aim to acknowledge every correction request within two working days.
How we handle corrections
- A confirmed factual error is corrected in the article itself.
- Where the correction is significant, we add a dated note at the foot of the article explaining what changed, so the record is transparent rather than quietly rewritten.
- A minor fix such as a typo or a misspelled name is corrected without a note, unless the original could have misled readers.
- We do not delete articles to make an error disappear. Where a story can no longer stand, we update it, append an editor note, or in rare cases unpublish it with an explanation.
Complaints beyond accuracy
If your concern is about fairness, conduct or our editorial standards rather than a plain factual error, write to the same address with Complaint in the subject line, setting out the article and your concern. A senior editor will review it and respond. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can ask for the matter to be escalated to the editorial lead, whose role is set out on our Masthead.
Right of reply
If you are the subject of a story and believe it is unfair or incomplete, contact us using the details above. We take requests for a right of reply seriously and will consider publishing your response where appropriate.
This policy is published alongside our editorial standards.
