The ECOWAS Commission has launched an automated platform for its Community Development Programme, with the five-day event held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 5 to 9 October 2026.
The platform is designed to support the coordination, programming and monitoring of regional development projects, and to improve the visibility of ECOWAS projects and citizens’ access to project information.
The platform was officially launched by His Excellency Anthony O. Ogunjimi, Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, in the presence of representatives from ECOWAS Directorates, Institutions and Specialized Agencies.
According to the Commission, the event promoted a harmonised and integrated approach to regional development investment programming.
The platform will facilitate the collection, consolidation and analysis of regional development projects, providing a centralised database to support strategic prioritisation, investment planning and resource mobilisation. It is also intended to enable ECOWAS to translate regional priorities into investment-ready projects.
Operationalisation has begun with the population of the platform by ECOWAS institutions and technical entities.
Subsequent phases will strengthen monitoring and evaluation functionalities, facilitate the establishment of a consolidated pipeline of investment-ready regional development projects, and support the assessment of financing needs.
The Commission describes the initiative as a step towards translating ECOWAS Vision 2050, the Community Strategic Framework and Management Strategic Priorities into concrete regional development investments.
Through the Community Development Programme, the ECOWAS Commission reaffirms its commitment to enhanced institutional coordination, evidence-based regional investment programming, effective resource mobilisation and accelerated regional integration for the benefit of ECOWAS citizens.
