Ten destitute widows and pregnant women at the waiting home of the Bafoulabé Reference Health Centre (CSRéf) received financial and food donations on Thursday, part of Mali’s Month of Solidarity and the Fight against Exclusion.
The ceremony, presided over by the prefect of the cercle, Siaka Souleymane Sanogo, unfolded in two stages.
At the town hall, a financial envelope mobilised by the “Benkadi” group was distributed among ten destitute widows — five residing in Bafoulabé and five in the commune of Mahina.

The initiative was placed under the patronage of Mme Diallo Salama Sakiliba, president of the Local Council of Civil Society (CLSC).
Bafoulabé mayor Kandé Doucouré praised the donors’ generosity, estimating that the gesture would help alleviate, even modestly, the beneficiaries’ daily difficulties in a difficult economic context.
For the patron, the action demonstrates the vitality of community solidarity in the cercle and its role in protecting the most vulnerable groups.
Speaking on behalf of the “Benkadi” group, Habibou Diaby reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to continuing these grassroots actions and praised the transparency of the steering committee.

The second stage took the delegation to the CSRéf waiting home, where a food kit consisting of two 50 kg bags of rice and a 20-litre can of oil was handed over.
The donation is aimed at improving the nutritional care of pregnant women from remote rural areas who are housed at the facility while awaiting childbirth.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the donors and organisers for the humanitarian initiative.
Presiding over the ceremony, Prefect Sanogo recalled the vision of the country’s authorities regarding solidarity and praised the commitment of the various actors who contributed to the activity’s success.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the village chief, Kaba Diallo, heads of technical services — particularly Social Development, Health and the Promotion of Women — as well as security authorities and media representatives.
