The tribunal accepted an anti-doping violation but reduced the suspension to time already served, meaning the 25-year-old Ukraine international can rejoin the squad without further delay.
Mudryk has been sidelined since November 2024, when he was provisionally suspended by the Football Association following an adverse finding for meldonium, a substance banned for its potential to enhance cardiovascular performance and stamina. The initial four-year suspension, handed down by the FA, was appealed to CAS, which ruled on the matter this week.

According to a report from BBC Sport, CAS confirmed that Mudryk tested positive for meldonium during an out-of-competition test taken while on international duty with Ukraine in October 2024. The court noted that the sample contained a low concentration of the substance and pointed to subsequent changes in World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidance. While those updated rules are not applied retroactively, CAS stated that under today’s limits, the concentration would not have been reported, and no adverse finding would have been recorded.
In a statement, Mudryk expressed relief at the outcome, calling the period since his suspension the “most difficult period” of his life. He reiterated his long-standing position, saying, “I have never knowingly or intentionally taken any banned substance.”
